The purpose of this workshop is to help you learn how to use the systematic review process in your organization as a true developmental
opportunity for all of your people. Reviews tend to focus on what the person does; development is about what the person must become as they
are trying to be more successful.
In this workshop you will learn how to use the review process, not only to evaluate your people’s performance (which most systems already
do), but how to look at that review as an opportunity to define where the person needs to be next year; to figure out what the core skills
are that they need to develop; to understand how to maximize their efforts in the role they are in and really take their work to the next level. You will have a chance to not only understand the philosophy and theory of reviews as a developmental opportunity, but to practice these skills during the workshop so that when you leave, you will really be able to begin to utilize this framework, these skills, and ideas in your day-to-day work life.
The participants will learn how to:
- Begin the Review Process as a Developmental Opportunity to get the most out of your people
- Initiate the change process over time; how do you use the role to kick it off; and how do you define the skills and the issues
that the person needs to struggle with to get to the next level in a year’s time
- Define the “Expanded Role”; that is, when a person is effectively succeeding at their current role, how do you identify new skills
they have never thought about to take them to the next level
- Use yourself as a facilitator in the process of change once you have identified where the person needs to start in their
developmental efforts during the year
- Begin to facilitate this change process
- Identify the core traits, skills, and capacities that the individual has to develop that will take them from where they are to
where you both collaboratively say they need to be at the end of next year
- Blend a person’s retrospective evaluation and use it to excite them about the developmental process that you are going to engage
them in going forward
Participants in this workshop will have an opportunity to totally change the way they look at reviews and to create a new
framework that makes reviews more powerful, exciting, meaningful, and forward looking as opposed to just retrospective evaluation.
This workshop is a must for those who would like to improve their focus on development of employees, to provide meaningful,
effective reviews, and to help employees get to the next level
